Changwon Special City is accepting applications and applications for the beekeeping industry structural improvement project until the 2nd of next month to strengthen the beekeeping farms’ breeding base and improve productivity.

The beekeeping industry restructuring project targets beekeeping farms registered as agricultural management entities among Changwon City citizens, and the total cost of this project is 154.45 million won. Of this, 50% is provided as subsidies, and the remaining 50% must be borne by the farms themselves.

This project supports a total of 9 types of equipment and facilities. Among them are automatic de-barkers, honey extraction carts, stainless steel drums, cold storages, traditional beehives, improved beehives, EPP beehives, and king isolation boxes and bee pollen. In particular, this year, instead of the honey stick packaging machines supported last year, we will focus on supporting king isolation boxes, which is expected to contribute to improving the honey extraction yield of beekeepers.

Last year, many beekeeping farms in Changwon City suffered damage due to the disappearance or death of bees during winter. Accordingly, Changwon City is promoting this project early to quickly restore the breeding base of beekeeping farms and stabilize management.

Kim Jong-hak, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “The beekeeping industry has suffered continuous damage for many years due to bee epidemics, disappearances and deaths of bees during winter,” adding, “We hope that by swiftly implementing the beekeeping industry restructuring project, it will help beekeepers who are in trouble.”
